Fate of refugees in the labor market

Number of Colombian women and children refugees who came to Reykjavik in 2005 and 2007. Within a few months, all subjects beginning to work, but about 10 years later, half of them become unable to work. Qualitative research among these women seek to identify their employment, education and health for women and Iceland after the date was set. Trying to answer the question whether it is possible to perform different reception and support for refugees to increase your chances of success in the labor market and reduce the likelihood of illness incapacity power.

Gerður Gestssdóttir holds MA from University of Manchester. For the past years, she has been working as specialists in the immigrantion issues. Recently she has been looking at the immigrants integration to the Icelandic labour market.
