Guðný Björk Eydal is Professor at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Iceland. Guðný has served as Head of Faculty of Sociology and Social Work. Her main research field is family and care policies in Iceland and the Nordic countries but she has also conducted research on social policy and is now directing a project in the field of disaster social work. Among her recent work is the book Fatherhood in the Nordic welfare states- comparing policies and practice, that she edited with Professor Tine Rostgaard, Currently she is also directing a long-term research project on the outcome of the paid parental leave legislation in Iceland that provides equal entitlements of paid leave to fathers and mothers with Professor Ingólfur V. Gíslason. Within that project she is conducting a comparative study on parental practices of parents born in Poland and Iceland.
